Hey, congratulations on purchasing a domain and setting it up.
You are here because you wanted to verify your newly purchased domain ownership in Google Search Console.
In this blog, I’m going to explain 5 easy methods to verify your website, don’t worry, it’s not complicated, it’s effortless (easy)
Let’s start the verifying process.
1. HTML File
If you choose this method to verify, first, you need to download an HTML verification file and upload that to the server.
Follow these steps to do that.
Step 1: Click Add Property
Step 2: Enter URL & Click Continue
Google will ask you to choose the property type. It offers two types of properties to choose from.
If you have multiple versions of URLs like.
In this case, you should choose the domain.
You can choose this method only when your website is
Only URLs under the entered address
Only URLs under the specified protocol.
Step 3: Download the file
Click on the down arrow symbol to download the HTML file
Step 4: Log in to the Cpanel >> File Manager >> Upload the file in Public_html folder.
Step 5: Click Verify Button in Google Search Console
Once verified, Google will alert with the authenticated message.
Note: once verification is over, you should not make any changes to the file like renaming, changing the format, or should not remove the file from the root folder.
The file should be in the root folder as long as you maintain the website.
2. HTML Tag
If you chose this method to verify your website in google search console, you need to add a few lines of code in your <head> section, before the first <body> section.
See the step by step process and follow it as it is.
Step 1: Copy the HTML Verification Tag.
Copy the verification code given in the search console, now go to your website home page backend
Step 2: Insert the HTML Verification Tag in <head> section
Once you copied the code from search console insert the code in the head section of the home page
Step 3: Click Verify Button in Google Search Console
To complete the verification process successfully, return to the Google search console, and click the verification button.
3. Google Analytics
To use this method, your website must have a Google Analytics Tracking Code installed.
Look at the highlighted 3 conditions in the above screenshot.
1. Your website must have google analytics code on home page
2. The tracking code should be in the <head> section.
3. You should have permission to edit Google Analytics Property.
If you meet all these three conditions, click verify
4. Google Tag Manager
Same as Google Analytics, if you are already using a tag manager, you can verify the site in Google Search Console in a few clicks.
1. You must be using the container snippet.
2. You must have the ‘publish’ permission for the Tag Manager container.
Click verify once added NoScript code to the website.
5. Domain Name Provider
If you wish to verify using this method, ensure you have access to the DNS management because you need to add a txt record to verify ownership of a website.
Follow these steps.
Step 1: Log in to the domain registrar.
If you are unsure who your domain registrar is, visit https://who.is/, enter your URL in the search box, and hit enter, you will see the registrar details under referral URL.
Step 2: Find out the DNS Management Settings
Find the DNS settings to create a txt record.
Note: All the Domain registrars will not have the same interface if you are unable to find DNS management settings, contact your domain registrar for the support, or you can also pass the code given in the search console and ask them to create a txt record on behalf of you.
Step 3: Creating TXT Record.
Once you find the DNS Management settings, Click on Add TXT Record
Options might be different registrar to registrar
Copy the record and paste that in the record field, Leave the name field blank or add your site URL as you saw in the below screenshot, and TTL doesn’t touch it.

Once you added all the TXT records, go back to google search console, and click verify.
How to Verify WordPress Site in Google Search Console.
Verifying a WordPress website in google search console is much easier compared to HTML and other format sites.
There are many methods available to verify website ownership, manual and plugin,
To make it easier, I’m explaining the plugin method.
Plugin 1: Yoast SEO
To verify using this plugin, you need to choose the HTML Tag method in google Search console.
Step 1: Install the Yoast SEO Plugin.
Visit the link given above, download the file, upload it to WordPress, and click install.
Step 2: Click SEO and General.
From the WordPress dashboard menu click on SEO and select general.
Step 3: Click Webmaster Tools and Add verification code.
Click on the webmaster tools option, copy the code from Google search console, and paste it in the Google Verification code field.
This is the most crucial step. Without this, you cannot verify the site in the search console.
Step 4: Click Save Changes
Don’t forget to click on save changes if you missed it, you need to start from the beginning.
Step 5: Go back to the search engine console and click verify.
Congratulations you are successfully verified your website ownership
Plugin 2: Insert Headers and Footers.
Same as Yoast SEO plugin you need to add an HTML tag to the home page <head> section.
Step 1: Install and Activate the Insert Headers and Footers Plugin
Step 2: Go to settings and Click Insert Header & Footer
From the WordPress dashboard click settings then select insert header and footer.
Step 3: Paste the Activation code.
Go back to search console, copy the HTML tag and paste it in scripts in header section.
