Once verified, Google will alert with the authenticated message.

Note: once verification is over, you should not make any changes to the file like renaming, changing the format, or should not remove the file from the root folder.

The file should be in the root folder as long as you maintain the website.

2. HTML Tag

If you chose this method to verify your website in google search console, you need to add a few lines of code in your <head> section, before the first <body> section.

See the step by step process and follow it as it is.

Step 1: Copy the HTML Verification Tag.

Copy the verification code given in the search console, now go to your website home page backend

Step 2: Insert the HTML Verification Tag in <head> section

Step 3: Click Verify Button in Google Search Console

3. Google Analytics

To use this method, your website must have a Google Analytics Tracking Code installed.

Look at the highlighted 3 conditions in the above screenshot.

1. Your website must have google analytics code on home page

2. The tracking code should be in the <head> section.

3. You should have permission to edit Google Analytics Property.

If you meet all these three conditions, click verify

4. Google Tag Manager

Same as Google Analytics, if you are already using a tag manager, you can verify the site in Google Search Console in a few clicks.

1. You must be using the container snippet.

2. You must have the ‘publish’ permission for the Tag Manager container.

Click verify once added NoScript code to the website.

5. Domain Name Provider

If you wish to verify using this method, ensure you have access to the DNS management because you need to add a txt record to verify ownership of a website.

Follow these steps.

Step 1: Log in to the domain registrar.

If you are unsure who your domain registrar is, visit https://who.is/, enter your URL in the search box, and hit enter, you will see the registrar details under referral URL.

Step 2:  Find out the DNS Management Settings

Find the DNS settings to create a txt record.

Note: All the Domain registrars will not have the same interface if you are unable to find DNS management settings, contact your domain registrar for the support, or you can also pass the code given in the search console and ask them to create a txt record on behalf of you.

Step 3: Creating TXT Record.

Once you find the DNS Management settings, Click on Add TXT Record

Options might be different registrar to registrar

Copy the record and paste that in the record field, Leave the name field blank or add your site URL as you saw in the below screenshot,  and TTL doesn’t touch it.

Once you added all the TXT records, go back to google search console, and click verify.
